4th February 2025, Kathmandu

Nabil Bank organized a financial awareness event in Qatar for Nepali migrant workers. The program, titled ‘Ghar Ta Nepal,’ took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel and attracted over 100 participants.

Nabil Bank’s Financial Literacy Program

The program was coordinated with Nabil Investment Banking Limited and Nabil Stock Dealer Limited. Bank representatives held interactive sessions on remittances, deposits, digital banking, loans, investments, and financial literacy. They discussed how to use financial services effectively, emphasizing savings and investment options. Additionally, the event introduced the ‘Nabil Daksh Pravasi Udyamshil Karja,’ aimed at promoting entrepreneurship among Nepali workers returning from abroad.

Nepali Ambassador to Qatar Urges Formal Remittance Channels

Nepali Ambassador to Qatar, Ram Chandra Poudel, encouraged migrant workers to use formal banking channels when sending money to Nepal. He highlighted that formal remittance systems not only ensure the safe transfer of funds but also contribute to the stability of Nepal’s economy. Poudel urged workers to protect their earnings and help strengthen Nepal’s economic foundation by choosing official methods for sending money home.

CEO of Nabil Bank Recognizes the Contribution of Migrant Workers

Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, CEO of Nabil Bank, praised the vital role Nepali migrant workers play in the economic growth of both Nepal and Qatar. He noted that Nepali workers form the second-largest expatriate group in Qatar. Dhungana also shared the bank’s goal to inform workers about its digital services, including mobile banking for account openings, loan applications, and investments in SIPs, mutual funds, and stock markets.

Nabil Bank’s Focus on Supporting Migrant Workers’ Economic Security

Adarsh Bajagain, Deputy General Manager at Nabil Bank, stressed that the bank is committed to providing financial tools that support migrant workers in managing their earnings. Nabil Bank aims to offer services that help ensure workers’ financial security and better utilize their money.

Financial Literacy Key to Long-Term Prosperity

Ramesh Bhatt, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Qatar, spoke on the importance of financial literacy for migrant workers. He explained that making informed financial decisions and using banking services properly can turn remittances into sustainable investments, benefiting families and Nepal’s economy.

Success of the Event and Contributions from the Community

The program was successful, thanks to the support of Mahendra Prasad Chamlagai, President of the Nepal Business Association in Qatar. The event concluded with a performance by stand-up comedian Suman Kaki.

Nabil Bank’s Ongoing Support for Migrants in Qatar

Nabil Bank has long supported Nepali workers in Qatar, providing efficient remittance services. Workers can send money directly to any bank account in Nepal and access funds from over 20,000 Nabil Remit agents nationwide. The bank also offers specialized savings accounts, digital banking, and loan services for remittance senders.
