Nabil Bank has started the fourth batch of its Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship (Nabil SSE) Fellowship to promote social entrepreneurship in Nepal.

The program was inaugurated on Monday at the School of Management, Tribhuvan University (SOMTU), with 20 aspiring entrepreneurs selected for this year’s cohort.
A Platform for Entrepreneurs
The fellowship, run in partnership with SOMTU, provides mentorship, knowledge, and skills to individuals passionate about social entrepreneurship. It equips participants to develop innovative and sustainable business ideas.
Leadership Insights
Upendra Poudyal, Chairman of Nabil Bank, highlighted the bank’s expansion into social initiatives beyond traditional banking. He shared plans to establish an Entrepreneurship Hub in Kirtipur, seeking stronger collaboration with universities.
Nirvana Chaudhary, Nabil Bank’s Director, emphasized the program’s role as a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs. He mentioned that the program leverages insights from national and international experts to guide participants.
Manoj Gyawali, Deputy CEO of Nabil Bank, stressed the program’s impact on the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts. He described it as a significant initiative that drives measurable progress.
Program Structure
The six-month fellowship includes:
18 days of residential action-based training
One year of advisory and mentorship support
A three-month certificate course on branding, marketing, and business management
Participants also receive guidance on tackling real-world business challenges.
Diverse Participants and Ventures
This year’s fellowship includes 11 women and participants from various districts such as Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Khotang, and Banke. Their projects range from producing eco-friendly fabrics and natural beauty products to creating digital learning platforms.
Strong Selection Process
Nabil Bank selected participants through a rigorous process, focusing on their potential and commitment to social entrepreneurship.
Positive Impact
Since its inception, the Nabil SSE program has trained 56 social entrepreneurs. Among them, 45 have established businesses, creating over 1,200 jobs.
Building Partnerships
Dr. Govinda Tamang, Director of SOMTU, praised the initiative as a model for collaboration between universities and the corporate sector. He expressed hope that such partnerships would drive curriculum innovation and entrepreneurship.
The fellowship continues to empower individuals, creating a lasting impact in Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
