Nepal’s NASA Foundation, a prominent player in Nepal’s efforts toward safer transportation, smart cities, and sustainable mobility, recently concluded its annual general meeting in Kathmandu.

The gathering was graced by the presence of Yogesh Bhattarai, coordinator of the National Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Mobility Nepal, and Gonzalo Alcaraz, Deputy Director General of the International Road Federation (IRF) Geneva.

The meeting resulted in the selection of the Foundation’s new board of directors for the forthcoming term.

Established in 2015 by the Nepal Automobiles Association in collaboration with Hollywood actress and Global Road Safety Ambassador Michelle Yeoh, the NASA Foundation has been instrumental in advocating for safer roads, sustainable transportation, and social development initiatives under its theme ‘Automobile and Society.’

The newly constituted board reflects the Foundation’s dedication to Nepal’s sustainable road infrastructure and safe transportation. Leading the board is Krishna Singh Basnet as the coordinator, Madhusudan Sigdel as the treasurer, and Subas Bhattarai as the executive secretary.

In addition, Dr. Pushparaj Pant, E. Pravesh Poudel, Bipin Gautam, and Monalisa Khambu have been elected as ward members, with Dashrath Risal assuming the role of ex-officio board member. The General Assembly, while reviewing the Foundation’s programs, also deliberated on policy matters, work plans, budgets, and contemporary initiatives within the sector.

Former coordinator Bhagwati Sedai was appointed as an expert advisor, leveraging her experience to guide the Foundation’s endeavors. Notably, numerous national and international resolutions were passed during the meeting, signifying the Foundation’s commitment to broader global cooperation.

Distinguished attendees at the annual general meeting included Ujjwal Jang Shahi, President of the Auto Journalists Association, Govind Bhattarai, FIA World Council Member, Mahesh Adhikari, Secretary of the Nepal Automobiles Association, Kamala Acharya, Co-Treasurer, Ramesh Poudel, Senior Vice President of the Sports Climbing Association, and several other esteemed guests.

The NASA Foundation’s renewed leadership promises a continued focus on advancing Nepal’s transportation infrastructure, safer mobility solutions, and societal well-being through sustainable practices.
