Ncell under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, has collaborated with the Nepal Youth Council for the launch of the One Youth, One Tree campaign, wherein 100 youths from each of the 77 districts will plant 100 trees in their areas, totaling 7700 trees across 7 provinces.

This campaign will be carried out in collaboration with provincial and local governments. As a sustainability modality of this initiative, youths from each district who will participate in this noble drive will also take on the responsibility of the overall care and maintenance of the plant. Ncell believes that this initiative will help to inculcate the message of responsible action among the youths of Nepal.

Ncell under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, has been driving various social projects under the Health, Education, Environment, and Youth Empowerment program, among others, in different parts of the country in collaboration with various partners.

“Today, marking World Environment Day, we are delighted to announce this exemplary initiative of planting 7700 trees in 77 districts in collaboration with the Nepal Youth Council.

We believe that via these kinds of social initiatives we will be reaching all the regional footprints and engaging with the local communities and youths for social projects that will further help us create value addition among the general public, and we are hopeful that our ongoing collaboration with Nepal Youth Council will help to amplify the impact of the overall project,” said Bishakha Lakshmi Khada, Head of Corporate Communications and CSR at Ncell.

Ncell has been working in the areas of youth empowerment, entrepreneurship development, leadership, and livelihood support, among other areas, in collaboration with the Nepal Youth Council, and other stakeholders under its social initiatives.

In line with this, Ncell has collaborated with Nepal Youth Council to support the National Youth Conference, which is being organized later this year, marking the International Day of Youths.

Saroj Baniya, Founder and Central President of the Nepal Youth Council, shared his thoughts and said that Nepal Youth Council has initiated tree plantation campaign, prioritizing the national agenda set by the Government of Nepal.

“This campaign is launched in collaboration with Ncell, aiming to engage local youth in environmental protection and foster social transformation. The Nepal Youth Council has been actively involved in environmental protection and climate change initiatives since long, connecting youth at various levels”.

To this date, Ncell and the Nepal Youth Council have also successfully completed provincial youth conferences in 5 different provinces.

These conferences are aimed at capacity enhancement of the youths at the provincial level via workshops, engagement activities, knowledge sessions, and leadership sessions that address various topics such as youth entrepreneurship, climate change, and the role of youth in achieving sustainable development goals. Participating youth formulated provincial action plans, which were then submitted to provincial chief ministers, ministers of social development, and other relevant agencies.

The youth empowerment conference has been completed in Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali, Far West, and Koshi provinces, and similar events will soon take place in the remaining two provinces with support from the provincial government.
