The Board of Directors of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has approved a total payment of Rs 1,978,301 to cover medical expenses and financial compensation for an employee injured by an electric shock while performing field repairs.

The financial relief addresses an operational safety incident that occurred during high voltage transmission line maintenance.
- Incident Background: Sher Bahadur Magar (also known as Sandesh Magar), a 25 year old employee originating from Khotang, sustained severe electrical burns on Chaitra 11, 2082.
- Location and Task: The accident occurred while replacing a disc pin on a 15 kV transmission line in Ambote, Melamchi Municipality-10, under the Melamchi Distribution Center.
- Medical Expenses Incurred: Following emergency evacuation to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital, total medical treatment expenses incurred reached Rs 978,301.
Financial Breakdown and Distribution Approval
The total disbursement combines statutory compensation alongside direct medical bill reimbursements.
- Statutory Compensation: The authority allocated a fixed compensation payment of Rs 1 million in accordance with institutional compensation guidelines.
- Medical Reimbursement: Full reimbursement of Rs 978,301 was approved to settle accumulated hospital bills.
- Advance Settlement: Having previously issued an advance payment of Rs 1 million to the victim, the NEA Board authorized the immediate release of the remaining Rs 978,301 through the Melamchi Distribution Center.
