Nepal-Australia Trade: NCC Appoints Honorary Representative

The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has appointed Sanjib Sharma as its honorary representative in Australia to boost trade and investment between the two countries.

Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, Chairman of the Chamber’s Advisory Council, handed over the honorary certificate to Sharma during a special ceremony held in Australia.
Strengthening Trade and Investment Ties
This new appointment aims to foster stronger economic cooperation between Nepal and Australia, particularly in trade, tourism, and investment. Shrestha highlighted the significance of Australia’s large Nepali community and its potential to serve as a key market for Nepalese exports.
Promising Export Market
Chairman Shrestha pointed out that Australia has shown a growing interest in Nepali exports, such as handicrafts, carpets, pasta, and domestic products. “In the current fiscal year, Nepal’s exports to Australia reached NPR 84 million,” he mentioned. He emphasized that Australia represents a promising market for Nepali goods and could support Nepal’s export growth.
Encouraging Investment from the Diaspora
Shrestha also encouraged the Nepali community living in Australia to invest in Nepal. He stressed that such investments could contribute significantly to the country’s economic development and provide valuable opportunities for both parties.
Sharma’s Commitment to Business Facilitation
Sanjeev Sharma, in his role as honorary representative, expressed his dedication to facilitating trade between Nepal and Australia. He vowed to focus on promoting exports from Nepal and making trade processes easier for Nepali businesses.
