The Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) has officially become a member of the Global SME Finance Forum, a major worldwide network supporting financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The forum, backed by the G-20 and IFC/World Bank, operates across 190 countries with over 300 member and affiliate organizations.

The network brings together a wide array of financial and development institutions, including banks, non-bank financial institutions, fintechs, payment platforms, development agencies, credit guarantee companies, insurance providers, investment funds, banking and SME associations, and educational institutions. These organizations focus on offering SME-centric financial services and solutions to support the growth of small businesses globally.
On this occasion, Kamar Saleem, the head of the SME Finance Forum, expressed his happiness in welcoming the Nepal Bankers’ Association into the forum. He emphasized that the membership will help further promote SME financial access in Nepal’s emerging market.
Sunil KC, President of the Nepal Bankers’ Association, stated that Nepal’s banking sector will greatly benefit from this new affiliation. He highlighted that particularly in the current environment where both regulatory bodies and banks are actively focused on improving financial access for SMEs, joining the prestigious SME Finance Forum would enhance the country’s banking ecosystem.
This new partnership marks a significant step toward strengthening financial support for Nepal’s SMEs, contributing to the growth and development of the sector. The Nepal Bankers’ Association’s membership in the forum underscores its commitment to advancing financial inclusion and expanding access to vital services for small and medium-sized businesses in the country.
