Nepal Defeats Australia By 11 Runs

Spectacular Bowling from Pratish, Nepal Defeats Australia in Hong Kong Sixes
With an outstanding performance by bowler Pratish GC, Nepal clinched their second consecutive victory in the Hong Kong Sixes cricket tournament, defeating Australia by 11 runs.
The match, held on Saturday morning, saw Nepal emerge victorious against Australia, marking their second win in Pool B. Having already defeated England by six wickets in their opening match, Nepal secured their place in the quarterfinals with this victory, leading Pool B with a perfect win record and four points. Australia, who had beaten England by 34 runs in their first game, also qualified for the quarterfinals. Nepal is now set to face Sri Lanka in the semifinals, scheduled for 1:35 PM today.
Nepal Sets a Target of 112 Runs
Winning the toss, Australia elected to field first, and Nepal posted a challenging score of 111 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 6 overs. Nepal’s captain, Sandeep Jora, led the charge with a half-century, scoring 50 runs off just 16 balls, including five fours and four sixes. This was Jora’s second half-century in the tournament, following his performance against England. Remarkably, he retired hurt in both innings, remaining unbeaten.
Lokesh Bam contributed a valuable 33 runs off 13 balls, hitting three fours and three sixes, while Bibek Yadav added 12 runs before getting out. Rashid Khan closed the innings with an explosive 12 runs off two balls, hitting two sixes to take Nepal’s score to 111.
Australia’s Chase Falls Short
Chasing a target of 112 runs, Australia managed to score only 100 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 6 overs. Jack Wood played a commendable innings, remaining unbeaten with 55 runs off 16 balls, hitting four fours and six sixes. Alex Ross added 14 runs, but the rest of the Australian lineup failed to deliver significant runs.
Nepal’s Pratish GC was the standout bowler, taking three wickets in his two overs, and conceding only 24 runs. Lokesh Bam and Bibek Yadav each claimed one wicket, further tightening Nepal’s grip on the game.
Jack Wood, despite his all-round performance with the bat and ball, couldn’t lead Australia to victory. He was Australia’s primary wicket-taker, claiming both of Nepal’s wickets, but Nepal’s disciplined bowling ultimately secured the 11-run win.
