CNI President Extends Greetings
CNI President Mr. Rajesh Kumar Agrawal welcomed Mr. Rabindra Shakya, the new President of FHAN, along with his executive team. He congratulated them on their recent election and offered best wishes for their term.
Mr. Agrawal described Nepal’s handicraft industry as a core part of the country’s cultural and economic identity. According to him, handicrafts are not just traditional items but important economic assets.
Handicrafts as a Key Industry
During the program, Mr. Agrawal emphasized that handicrafts represent one of Nepal’s original and heritage-based industries. He stated that this sector has significant potential and requires proper support and promotion. He further noted that handicrafts fall under Nepal’s area of comparative advantage in global trade.
He stressed that both CNI and FHAN should work together for the common goal of strengthening Nepal’s economy. Collaboration, he said, is the key to unlocking more opportunities for the handicraft sector.
CNI Focuses on Research-Based Advocacy
Mr. Agrawal highlighted CNI’s role in shaping national policy. He said the confederation provides policy suggestions to the government only after thorough research and study. “When we present evidence-based suggestions, the government is more likely to respond positively,” he explained.
This approach helps create stronger, more informed policies that support industries like handicrafts. He assured that CNI would continue offering such support to FHAN in the future.
FHAN President Pledges Support
In response, FHAN President Mr. Rabindra Shakya thanked CNI for the warm welcome and support. He appreciated the efforts made by CNI to promote domestic products and industries.
Mr. Shakya pointed out that the use of local products must increase across Nepal. He called for stronger efforts to boost the market for Nepali handicrafts. He also assured that FHAN would actively collaborate with CNI to promote the national economy.
“Our industries must work together,” said Mr. Shakya. “We are committed to cooperating with CNI on programs and policy advocacy.”
Senior Officials Join the Ceremony
Senior CNI officials also attended the event. These included Senior Vice President Mr. Birendra Raj Pandey and Director General Dr. Ghanshyam Ojha. Their presence showed institutional support and unity.
The ceremony concluded with both organizations agreeing to work closely in the coming years. Their focus will be on promoting traditional industries, increasing domestic consumption, and boosting exports.
