The Confederation of Nepal Industry, in collaboration with the Government of Nepal, is set to host the fifth edition of the Nepal Infrastructure Summit on September 12 and 13 in Kathmandu.

Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024 to Focus on Sustainable Development

The announcement was made during a press conference held in Kathmandu on Friday.

The upcoming summit aims to accelerate the development of Nepal’s infrastructure through strategic and sustainable investment. Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, President of the Confederation, emphasized that the primary goal of the Infrastructure Summit 2081 is to achieve sustainable development by laying a strong foundation for economic prosperity through infrastructure growth.

Agarwal highlighted the critical role infrastructure plays in the advancement of any nation. He pointed out that developed countries have achieved their status through significant investments in infrastructure, and Nepal must follow a similar path to realize its economic potential.

He also underscored the necessity for Nepal to focus on sustainable infrastructure development. According to the National Plan, achieving the country’s sustainable development goals by 2030 will require an estimated investment of 20 trillion rupees. This staggering figure reflects the scale of the challenge and the importance of strategic investment in infrastructure.

However, Agarwal noted the significant resource constraints facing the country. He emphasized the need for innovative solutions and global best practices to overcome these challenges. The summit will feature in-depth discussions on international infrastructure development experiences, aiming to draw lessons that can be applied in the Nepali context.

The conference will also address 12 key legislative issues related to infrastructure development, offering a platform for policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue.

The Nepal Infrastructure Summit 2024 is poised to be a landmark event, setting the stage for robust discussions on the future of infrastructure in Nepal and the strategic investments needed to drive sustainable development.
