Nepal Insures’ Association Facilitates International Webinar on Earthquake Risk Management

In a proactive move, the Nepal Insures’ Association is spearheading an international webinar centered on earthquake risk mitigation. The event, conceived under the auspices of the Nepal Insures’ Association, aims to enhance the expertise of Nepal’s insurance workforce in earthquake engineering.

Collaborating with the esteemed Asian Institute of Technology, Hong Kong-based insurance broker TQR, and Professional Advancement Bangladesh, the association is orchestrating the enlightening webinar.

Scheduled for August 11, the webinar features Professor Penang Warnitchai, a distinguished authority from the engineering and technology department of the Asia Institute of Technology. Professor Warnitchai, having witnessed the repercussions of a catastrophic earthquake in Turkey, will share invaluable insights applicable to seismic-prone regions such as Nepal.

Anticipating an interactive exchange of knowledge, experts will delve into subjects like effective earthquake risk management, comprehensive risk protection strategies, aiding policyholders during crises, seismic risk assessments, auditing practices, risk mitigation endeavors, reinsurance strategies, and claims management.

Chankee Chhetry, the association’s President and program organizer, highlights the universal applicability of Turkey’s experiences in Nepal’s context, given their shared high seismic vulnerability.

The Nepal Insurance Association recognizes the potential of engaging the insurance sector’s workforce in training programs facilitated by the internationally recognized Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), known for its technical training programs for financial sector personnel.

The association envisions this collaboration not only expanding institutional ties but also serving as a conduit for career advancement opportunities within Nepal’s insurance industry.
