Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the Nepali Congress, opened the Nepal Startup and SME Conference in Lalitpur. He called the conference a chance for innovation and investment. He said the event would showcase new products and services.

Deuba pointed out that innovation is key to economic recovery. The country faces a global recession, but Deuba believes local entrepreneurship can help Nepal bounce back. He emphasized the importance of supporting youth and women entrepreneurs. Discussions during the conference will focus on creating policies that foster business growth. Deuba also noted that local businesses could bring self-reliance to rural areas.

Government Support for Entrepreneurs

Deuba stressed the need for government support to make startups successful. He mentioned that affordable loans, training programs, and skill development are essential. He also highlighted the importance of grants to help businesses grow. The government is focusing on promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This initiative aims to reduce imports and narrow the trade deficit.
