The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced fluctuations throughout the past week, finishing at 2,734.93 points. This marked a slight decline of 0.48%, or 13.12 points, compared to the previous week’s closing of 2,748.05 points. Despite the drop in the index, the market saw a boost in overall trading volume.

Nepal Stock Market Analysis Trends Growth

Trading Activity Overview

Over the five trading days, NEPSE witnessed a mixed performance. On three days, the index decreased, while on two days it increased.

The market showed positive trends on Monday and Tuesday, but the index fell on the remaining days. Even though the index went down, the market turnover showed a significant rise.

  • Average Trading Volume: This week, the daily average trading volume stood at NPR 9.08 billion, a 15.27% increase from the previous week’s NPR 7.88 billion. The daily number of shares traded rose by 25.63%, and the number of transactions grew by 17.71%.
  • Market Capitalization: NEPSE’s total market capitalization decreased by 0.44%. The value dropped by NPR 19 billion from NPR 45.56 trillion last week to NPR 45.36 trillion this week.

Sector-wise Performance

The NEPSE comprises 13 subgroups, with 3 subgroups showing an increase in their indices, and 10 showing a decrease.

  • Top Performing Sectors: The Trading sub-group experienced the highest growth, gaining 19.99%. This was followed by the Life Insurance and Hydropower subgroups, both of which saw increases of over 1%. The Trading sub-group gained the most points, rising by 845.28 points, from 4,229.19 to 5,074.47.
  • Declining Sectors: The Finance sub-group experienced the biggest drop, with its index falling by 7.43%, dropping 270.28 points from 3,638.25 to 3,367.97.

This week, four companies registered a total of 179,829,937.72 shares on NEPSE. The following companies listed their shares:

  • Everest Bank
  • Kamana Seva Development Bank
  • Api Power
  • CEDB Holdings Limited

Stock Price Changes

Several companies experienced notable changes in stock prices this week:

  • Top Gainers:
    • Khanikhola Hydropower saw its stock price rise by 45.36%.
    • Joshi Hydropower experienced a 38% increase in its stock price.
    • Divyashwari Hydropower saw its stock price grow by around 26.5%.
  • Top Losers:
    • Nepal Finance had the biggest loss, with its stock price dropping by 23%.
