The data roaming service in India which was previously halted by Nepal Telecom (NTC) resumed a few days ago. The telecom company has also added 13 new countries to its service list and has started providing the data roaming services in those countries. The international service started on Ashoj 3, 2076 and is available with NTC SIM Cards.

According to the telecom, the list of countries where customers with a GSM Postpaid SIM Card from NTC can use the international data roaming service are:

  • United States of America (USA)
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • China
  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Malaysia
  • Qatar
  • Singapore
  • Switzerland
  • Thailand
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • United Kingdom (UK)

NTC also resumed its data roaming services to India. With the international data roaming service, the customer can use the internet on their smartphones when they’re roaming abroad. This is a common service for most telecom companies. The customers must subscribe to the international data roaming. The settings on customers device also need to be changed to enable roaming service.

Voice and SMS functionalities were already available to the customers whereas the addition of data roaming feature in the afore mentioned countries enables the customer to enjoy cellular data connection using their NTC SIM Cards. The service is available in India and China for prepaid users.

The cost of data roaming in NTC is 10 Paisa per 100 KB, which translates to Rs. 10 for 1 MB data.

NTC is planning to add other countries and provide SMS, voice services along with the cellular connection.
