Nepal Telecom Expands Mobile Coverage
This expansion encompasses several key areas such as the Manaslu Himal region, Manaslu footpath, Larkepass, Manang footpath, and Chumanubri village.
In response to the high demand from both locals and tourists in these frequented areas, Nepal Telecom has upgraded its voice and data services, enhancing capacity and quality. The improvements include an expansion of 2G services to critical locations like Jagat, Salleri, Sirdibas, Vihi, Prok, Namrung, Shyo, Lho, and Samagaon, as well as to Samdo, the last village before the Ruila pass on the China border.
Furthermore, the company has replaced outdated Visat technology with microwave transmission links at sites in Lho, Samagaon, and Gamaladanda. This upgrade not only boosts the quality of 2G services but also enables the operation of 4G services, significantly improving connectivity and service reliability in these remote areas.
The extension of telecom services is expected to benefit residents, tourists, and businesses in the region by providing modern telecommunication capabilities. Enhanced connectivity will facilitate better communication with tourists and improve rescue operations’ efficiency in emergencies.
Nepal Telecom’s initiative aims to support the growing needs of the region’s visitors and residents, promoting both safety and convenience in one of Nepal’s most challenging terrains.
