Nepal to get its own Telecommunication Satellite

Nepal Telecommunication Authority has demanded a letter of intent to have its own satellite. The Authority has demanded a letter of intent within two weeks.

The old satellite was rejected. With the aim of working in a new way, the authority has demanded the letter. The NTA said the structure of satellite operation will be prepared in the coming days. Also, the policy will be formulated accordingly. They have sought a letter of intent from international consultants on the same issue.

The spokesperson of the NTA is Mr. Min Prasad Aryal. According to him, Nepal needs to have its own satellite. Not just him, many of us feel so.

The letter of intent calls for experienced and qualified consultants. According to NTA, 50 percent of the consultants will be selected on the basis of experience. 40 percent will be selected on the basis of qualification. The remaining 10 percent will be selected on the basis of capacity.

The consultants will have to prepare the operating structure. NTA is preparing to have its own satellite by the next fiscal year.

Three years ago, NTA had issued the letter of intent. 22 companies had shown interest and 12 countries had participated in it. Aryal said, earlier 22 companies had shown interest in this project.

If everything goes according to plan, Nepal will have its own satellite by the next fiscal year. How many of you are excited about this?
