The Nepal Telecommunications Authority has given instructions to the telecommunication service provider companies to renew the Value Add Service (VAS) only with the permission of the customer.
The Authority has issued a notification and instructed telecom service providers to inform the subscribers of the service through SMS before the expiry of the period of VAS value-added service operated by the telecommunication service providers.
Similarly, the authority has instructed to request the response of the customer through SMS regarding whether or not to renew the service and to arrange for the renewal of the service provider’s service for the customer requesting the renewal.
It has been instructed not to renew the service automatically for those customers who do not want to renew their services or do not give any response.
Currently, there have been complaints on social networking sites that the service has been operated with auto-renewal contrary to the direction given by the authority, so NTA has issued a notice not to operate the service with auto-renewal. It has also been informed that if found doing so, action will be taken according to the law.
