The highly anticipated Nepali film “Jaar” is all set to hit theaters on Baisakh 26, 2081 (May 8, 2025), with hopes high that it will raise the bar for the entire Nepali film industry. Backed by strong storytelling, visual excellence, and technical finesse, Jaar is expected to set a new benchmark in the country’s cinematic landscape.

A Story Rooted in Nepali History
Directed by Phurba Chhiring Lama, Jaar is inspired by a powerful historical short story penned by legendary Nepali writer Indra Bahadur Rai. The story is based on true events that took place in the 1800s, offering deep insights into the socio-cultural transformation of Nepali society during that era.
“We have taken cinematic liberty while preserving the essence of Rai’s original narrative. Our goal was to visually enhance the emotional and historical depth of the story,” said director Lama.

The film’s post-production was partly completed in India to ensure top-tier technical quality. With high attention to detail in cinematography, editing, and sound, the makers claim Jaar competes with international cinema standards.
“We didn’t compromise on any aspect of the movie—from character casting to post-production. This isn’t just a movie; it’s a historical document of our society.” He added.
