Nepal’s first EV (Electric Vehicle) show NADA Auto Show is taking place in Brikutimandap Exhibition Hall from September 22 to September 25. The expo is aiming to provide a route for sustainable development of the Nepal Automobile Sector.
The event is focusing on raising awareness about electric vehicles, their usage, and their benefits to the mass. Finance Minister Janardan Sharma inaugurated the NADA Expo. Speaking at the event, Finance Minister expressed his delight in the event held first time in Nepal. He urged that such vehicles should be encouraged to come into use in Nepal to focus on sustainable development.
Sharma also said that hydrogen vehicles should be manufactured and replaced with all the current vehicles in the next 10 years. He said that he had seen some students successfully working on it and urged the manufacturing companies to focus on such talent The event featured some of the latest electric vehicles such as electric bikes, Electric Cars, Electric Rickshaw, Electric Charging Station and Charging Solutions, Electric batteries, and Tyres of different renowned brands.
The expo which will last for 4 days has attracted lots of young generation of EV enthusiasts. The craze can be seen with many people visiting the expo. One of the spokesperson of the Agni Group said that the expo is a milestone for the EV scenario in Nepal. He further added that they used to sell five EVs per year and used to see it as the beginning of EVs in Nepal. The expo has added more opportunities for dealers.
Some models of EVs of some brands were already sold out at the event.
However, at the Expo, the craze of the general public has been seen in the bicycles brought by Nimbus. Lectro Cycles is manufactured by Hero Cycles, a subsidiary of India’s largest motorcycle manufacturer. It is being sold and distributed by Nimbus International Pvt Ltd in Nepal.
A discount of up to 8,000 rupees has been given when buying a bicycle with a minimum price of 75 thousand 900 rupees to 1 lakh 39 thousand 900 rupees in the Dashain offer. The company said that those who buy at the NADA Auto Show will get a free helmet.
The event enabled the manufacturers and dealers to present the performance, safety, efficiency, and sustainability of their vehicles in the Nepalese market which is just budding toward a convenient market. The four-day-long expo will portray the latest development in energy-saving, green energy, and new energy through the exhibition of EVs by renowned brands.
