In a significant step forward for Nepal’s open-source and cybersecurity landscape, Ubuntu Nepal has partnered with the Center for Cybersecurity Research and Innovation (CSRI) to collaborate on UbuCon Asia 2025, a flagship conference set for August 30–31, 2025.
Nepal’s Ubuntu Community and CSRI Collaborate
The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, underscoring their shared commitment to fostering open-source software, cybersecurity awareness, and community engagement in Asia. The MoU was signed by Mr. Aaditya Singh, Organizing Committee Lead of UbuCon Asia 2025, on behalf of Ubuntu Nepal.
Representing CSRI were Dr. Shaligram Parajuli, President, and Dr. Bhojraj Ghimire, General Secretary. The initiative was spearheaded by Mr. Chiranjibi Adhikari, Founder President of CSRI, whose leadership played a pivotal role in realizing this collaboration.
Advancing Nepal’s ICT Ecosystem Through Open-Source and Cybersecurity
This partnership marks more than just a collaboration for an event—it lays the groundwork for future growth in Nepal’s ICT sector, combining expertise in Linux, open-source software, cybersecurity research, and community development.
As a Community Partner, CSRI will be prominently recognized throughout the UbuCon Asia 2025 campaign.
A New Chapter for Nepal’s Tech Future
With this MoU, Ubuntu Nepal and CSRI are planning a successful conference and strengthening the foundation of Nepal’s technology sector. The collaboration is expected to boost community participation in open-source projects and expand cybersecurity knowledge across the region.

CSRI’s core objectives include conducting advanced research on emerging cybersecurity threats and solutions; developing skilled cybersecurity professionals through education and training; supporting the development and implementation of national cybersecurity policies; promoting public awareness and digital safety through outreach programs; and fostering collaboration between academia, government, and industry.
The newly elected Executive Committee of CSRI comprises a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to its mission. Dr. Shaligram Parajuli serves as the current President, with Prof. Dr. Subarna Shakya as Immediate Past President. The leadership team also includes Prof. Dr. Gajendra Sharma as Senior Vice President; Bijay Kumar Roy and Raj Kumar Maharjan as Vice Presidents; and Dr. Amrita Sharma as Honorary Vice President. The General Secretary is Dr. Bhojraj Ghimire, supported by Secretaries Sarala Karki, Ganga Bhandari, Abhash Adhikari, and Tej Prasad Dhamala. Kamala Aryal serves as Treasurer. The Executive Members include Shantikala Subedi, Jayanti Malakar, Rita Pokhrel, and Omkar Basnet. The Founder President of CSRI is Chiranjibi Adhikari, whose visionary leadership laid the foundation for the center’s impactful work in cybersecurity.
