NEPS Begins Its Services After Hack In Nepal

Nepal Electronic payment system (NEPS) has started giving its services. After the Chinese hacker hacked the system, the NEPS has interrupted the card systems of eighteen banks.

NEPS is formulated to establish a platform for new technologies in electronic payment. The Banks that are providing its services through NEPS are listed below:

  1. Bank of Kathmandu
  2. Citizen Bank
  3. Dev Development Bank
  4. Apex Development Bank
  5. Global IME
  6. Janata Bank
  7. Jyoti Bikas Bank
  8. Lumbini Bikas Bank
  9. Machhapuchhre Bank
  10. Nepal Bangladesh Bank
  11. NIC Asia
  12. Om Development Bank
  13. Prabhu Bank
  14. Prime Bank
  15. Shangrila Bank
  16. Shine Resunga Bank
  17. Siddartha Bank
  18. Sunrise Bank

Aer the hack, the bank’s card services were open for an only respective bank, but now the card will also work on the visa network. But the card work only on pus machine. People are not yet allowed to withdraw money from Visa Network Bank’s ATM.

People were facing a lot of difficulties when NEPS services were interrupted, but with the support of Rastra Bank now the NEPS is open for its services. Some Banks did not distribute pus machines, and consumers also suffered.
