Nepal Insurance Authority Directs Insurers To Implement Digital Claim Tracking System Within Three Months
24th July 2026, Kathmandu
The Nepal Insurance Authority has issued a mandatory circular directing all insurance companies operating in the country to establish and operationalize a digital insurance claim tracking system.
NIA Directs Digital Claim Tracking System Implementation
Insurers have been given a strict three month timeline to fully develop, test, and implement the platform for public use.
Objective Of The Digital Claim Tracking System
According to the regulatory body, the primary objective of this directive is to introduce higher transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency across the domestic insurance sector. By standardizing digital tools, the authority aims to modernize claims management and improve customer trust in insurance products.
Real Time Tracking Functionality For Policyholders
The newly mandated system will allow policyholders to track the progression of their insurance claims in real time. Insured customers will gain visibility into every technical phase of the settlement workflow, ensuring clear communication between policyholders and insurance firms.
Key Operational Stages Included In Tracking
The digital platform must provide step by step tracking from initial claim notification and official document submission through to surveyor assessment, managerial approval, and final fund disbursement. This comprehensive tracking prevents deliberate delays and streamlines overall processing timelines.
Mandatory Three Month Implementation Window
The Nepal Insurance Authority has underscored that operationalizing the tracking mechanism within the designated three month window is compulsory for all licensed life, non life, and micro insurance companies. Failure to comply within the specified timeframe may invite regulatory oversight and supervisory measures.
