According to an official statement from the Nimsdai Foundation, he and several members of his climbing team tragically lost their lives following a massive avalanche on Broad Peak.

“It is with profound sorrow and grief that we confirm the tragic passing of Nirmal ‘Nimsdai’ Purja following an avalanche on Broad Peak. Additionally, it has been confirmed that other members participating in the expedition did not survive.”
The foundation paid tribute not only to Nimsdai but also to his trusted climbing partners and guides, Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta) and Nima Sherpa, who also perished in the disaster.
“Our deepest condolences, prayers, and heartfelt tributes go out to their families, friends, and well-wishers. Words cannot lessen such unimaginable pain. We kindly request everyone to respect the privacy of the families during this difficult time.”

Details of the Tragic Accident
According to the Nimsdai Foundation, the fatal accident occurred on Thursday afternoon around 12:00 PM.
The Expedition: A 10-member team was attempting to summit the 8,047-meter (26,401-foot) peak of Broad Peak.
The Avalanche: The disaster struck when the climbers reached an altitude of approximately 6,600 meters.
Communication Loss: Contact with the team was lost on Thursday morning, followed by reports of a massive avalanche later that evening.
Out of respect for the grieving families, the foundation has stated that it will not issue further comments until official information is verified by the relevant authorities.
