NLG Insurance Company Limited Organized Agricultural and Livestock Insurance Awareness Program

NLG Insurance Company Limited through its Salyan branch office conducted an awareness and interaction program on agricultural and livestock insurance at the ward office of Triveni Rural Municipality 5 in Salyan district.

The outreach program was organized with the primary goal of expanding insurance coverage among rural farmers and integrating local agricultural communities into formal financial risk management systems.
Role of Insurance in Farmer Financial Protection and Risk Management
During the interaction session NLG Insurance Salyan Branch Chief Anurag Bohara highlighted the importance of establishing comprehensive risk mitigation channels for farming households:
- Branch Chief Anurag Bohara stated that NLG Insurance has continuously conducted rural awareness initiatives and doorstep visits to promote agricultural and livestock insurance.
- He explained that crop and livestock insurance products serve as crucial financial safety nets that protect agricultural investments against unexpected losses.
Government Premium Subsidy Framework and Natural Disaster Protection
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest of the program Ward Chairperson Bimal Rawat emphasized local participation and government support initiatives:
- Ward Chairperson Bimal Rawat urged participants to spread the information and knowledge gained from the program throughout their local agricultural communities.
- He encouraged local farmers to maximize the benefits of the 80 percent premium subsidy provided by the Government of Nepal for agricultural and livestock insurance policies.
- He noted that agricultural insurance offers essential financial relief when farmers face crop destruction or livestock loss caused by natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and unseasonal weather risks.
Scope of Coverage Policy Provisions and Claims Settlement Process
The program covered detailed discussions regarding policy frameworks, claim guidelines, and insurance categories:
- Branch Chief Anurag Bohara answered queries from participants regarding policy terms, documentation requirements, and claim settlement procedures.
- The presentation covered multiple agricultural insurance segments including livestock insurance, cereal crop insurance, vegetable crop insurance, fruit crop insurance, and specialized coverage for allied agricultural products.
Digital Policy Issuance and System Efficiency via ALIS
Participants were introduced to the digital technology framework utilized in modern agricultural insurance:
- Farmers were trained on the features of the Agricultural and Livestock Insurance System ALIS used for policy management.
- It was explained that both policy issuance and claim processing are managed through the ALIS platform to ensure operational transparency, simplicity, and speedy claim resolution.
- Branch Chief Bohara reiterated that NLG Insurance will continue expanding doorstep awareness campaigns while promoting the 80 percent government premium subsidy.
Stakeholder Participation and Community Support
The interaction program brought together a diverse group of local leaders, administrative officials, and farming community members:
- A total of 43 farmers and local stakeholders from various communities within Triveni Rural Municipality 5 actively participated in the session.
- Participating farmers raised questions regarding practical claim guidelines, shared localized concerns, and offered operational suggestions to make the insurance process more accessible.
Key attendees included Executive Member Ratna Kumari Bohara, Ward Members Dharmabahadur Gharti, Gauri BK, and Lilamani Giri, Ward Secretary Devraj BK, social activist Gyanendra Pun, and Tole Development Committee Chairperson Tekbahadur Bohara alongside local community leaders.
In the closing address NLG Insurance Business Coordinator Sunil Shrestha expressed gratitude to elected representatives, government officials, and participating farmers while reaffirming the commitment of the company to conduct doorstep insurance campaigns across rural Nepal.
