Online Citizen Complaint Management System Launched By Nepal Police
20th May 2026, Kathmandu
In a significant step toward digital governance, Nepal Police has officially launched a new online citizen help and complaint management system.
Online Citizen Complaint Management System
Integrated directly into the official Nepal Police Mobile App, this feature allows citizens across the country to file complaints, report grievances, and communicate with law enforcement entirely digitally.
Unveiled by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki alongside the department’s three-year strategic plan, the initiative marks a major tech-friendly transformation aimed at making public services more transparent, accessible, and citizen-centric.
Real-Time Tracking and Audio-Video Evidence
The newly upgraded app moves beyond basic reporting by allowing users to submit multimedia attachments. Citizens can now upload photos, video clips, and audio evidence directly with their complaints.
The system automatically captures GPS locations to forward the report to the nearest local or district police station.
Once a complaint is submitted, users receive a unique tracking ID. This allows them to monitor the real-time progress of their case and communicate directly with investigating officers through the app’s “My Incidents” or “eComplaint” tabs. The system currently hosts dedicated categories for reporting various incidents, including:
-
Cybercrime and online fraud
-
Financial crimes
-
Domestic violence
-
Accidents and public safety hazards
-
Theft and narcotics-related cases
Eliminating Bureaucratic Hurdles
Historically, citizens have faced challenges with local police offices delaying or refusing to accept physical applications. The Nepal Police Headquarters expects this centralized digital framework to completely eliminate those hurdles.
By bypassing the need to physically visit a police station for initial filings, the platform ensures that every single submission is digitally logged, timestamped, and made auditable by higher authorities.
This systematic data retention makes it easier for the department to maintain organized digital records while driving internal accountability.
The official Nepal Police mobile app is currently available for free download on both the Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS devices. Users must complete a basic registration process with a verified mobile number to utilize the live case-tracking and automated feedback features.
