If there is any bright side to coronavirus, it’s our country’s attempts to go digital.
Online payment has never been so popular in Nepal. Now that people fear the infection from the virus, everyone prefers maintaining social distancing. We are discovering a new service that allows you to make your drinking water service online. The application is termed “Watermark“.
Apparently, local drinking water committees are providing the facility of making an online payment for drinking water through Watermark for over 5 years.
We’ve all experienced staying in line for hours to pay for drinking water, right? Not to mention the confusion we have while making payments.
5 years earlier, Diyalo Technology introduced “Watermark”, an online software that solves our hectic problem of making drinking water payments.
The local people were not very open to the idea of making payments online for drinking water back in the days. Today, the number of people opting for Watermark’s digital payment is surprisingly high.
At present, more than 12,000 consumers are making online payments in Lekhnath, the first district from where the service started.
Now, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, and Chitwan are at the forefront of using this software.
The Chief of Lekhnath Drinking Water, Amatya, says that consumers prefer using online medium now. It not only saves time but saves the expense of traveling to the local offices.
It seems we are, after all, moving towards a more digital world. The hassle of carrying bills from house to house, employing manpower just for meter reading, and manual filing is coming to an end.
We hope that such facilities be provided to people all over the country and not just in the urban areas.
