Pokhara University Founding Day
On the auspicious occasion of the Pokhara University Founding Day (Shrawan 1st), Shramik Shanti Campus organized a high-impact workshop titled “AI in Cybersecurity and Social Impact” for its IT and tech students.
The event was organized in strategic collaboration with TechPaaila Innovations and cybersecurity partner One Cover Private Limited, highlighting the growing intersection of artificial intelligence, digital defense, and national development.
Academic Excellence and Nation Building
The program was chaired by Phul Babu Jha, Program Coordinator of Shramik Shanti Campus, who kicked off the session by emphasizing the college’s dedication to bringing industry-relevant knowledge directly to the classroom.
The Chief Guest of the event, Ajay Kumar Thapa (Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Former Registrar of Pokhara University), delivered an illuminating address on the history, evolution, and founding values of Pokhara University.
Highlighting the social impact of higher education, Dean Thapa discussed how academic institutions create long-term value in nation-building by producing skilled human resources capable of navigating global technological shifts.
Keynote: Sovereign AI and Social Impact
The keynote session was delivered by Chiranjibi Adhikari, Acting President of the CAN Federation and Associate Director of TechPaaila Innovations. Adhikari’s presentation pivoted around the critical concept of Sovereign AI, the necessity for nations like Nepal to develop, control, and govern their own artificial intelligence frameworks, data infrastructure, and digital capabilities rather than relying entirely on foreign platforms. TechPaaila Business Innovation Officer, Yogiraj Adhikari were also presented.
Dean Ajay Kumar Thapa highly praised Adhikari’s visionary insights, noting that integrating a “Skills-First” competence in AI and cybersecurity is essential for safeguarding Nepal’s digital borders while maximizing social impact.
The event also witnessed the distinguished presence of Hari Krishna Banjankar, Former President of Shramik Shanti Campus, who shared reflections on the institution’s growth and its continuous support for forward-thinking educational initiatives.
Live Technical Demos and Industry Collaboration
Moving from policy to practice, ethical hackers Swagat Aryal and Pralin Baramu captivated the audience with a live phishing demonstration. They walked the students through the mechanics of modern social engineering attacks and explained how AI is being used both to launch sophisticated cyber threats and to defend against them.
The technical segment concluded with an engaging interactive quiz contest that tested and rewarded the students’ tech knowledge.
Closing the event, Program Chair Phul Babu Jha expressed his immense gratitude to the collaborative partners. He formally announced the college’s commitment to signing a formal partnership agreement with TechPaaila Innovations and One Cover Private Limited in the very near future to establish sustained mentorship, internship pipelines, and advanced training frameworks for the students.
