The Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has taken a significant step to boost Nepal’s IT sector by forming an IT Software and Technology Committee and announcing the development of an IT Center aimed at fostering innovation, supporting startups, and attracting investments.

Key Initiatives

IT Center: Designed to be a hub for innovation and investment, the IT Center will act as a catalyst for the IT sector.

Public-Private Partnerships (PPP): Former NCC President Rajendra Malla emphasized that IT exports could surpass hydropower revenue, underlining the importance of PPPs.

Private Sector’s Role

NCC President Kamlesh Agrawal called for robust private sector participation to leverage Nepal’s declaration of the “Decade of Information Technology.” He also proposed the establishment of a public company to accelerate IT innovation.

Strategic Focus Areas

CAN Federation Vice President Chiranjibi

Cybersecurity expert and Vice President of the Federation of Computer Association Nepal, Chiranjibi Adhikari, outlined critical priorities for IT sector development:

Building a strong software development framework.

Increasing ICT sector investments.

Empowering startups for long-term sustainability.

Collaborative Vision

Bigyan Shrestha, Chair of the IT Software and Technology Committee, stressed the importance of collective efforts in showcasing Nepal’s IT capabilities on a global stage.

The NCC’s initiatives align with Nepal’s broader vision of digital transformation, focusing on innovation, job creation, and economic growth. The efforts aim to position Nepal as a global IT hub and drive the nation’s ambition to lead in the digital economy.
