Seeds for the Future 2023

Sahaj Raj Malla embarked on a journey representing Nepal in the “Seeds for the Future 2023” program. His mother’s wisdom guided him to make unwavering decisions and fulfill his duties with passion and responsibility. His goal was to bring back technological insights that could benefit Nepal and inspire those around him.

Selection Process: The Paper Trail and Learning Curve

The journey began with the submission of a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and a Statement of Purpose (SOP), which led to Sahaj’s selection as one of the 16 shortlisted candidates out of 250+ applicants. The learning curve included participation in the Tech4Good hackathon and a series of informative lectures.

Tech4Good Hackathon: Real-world Challenges

Sahaj and his team faced the challenge of creating and presenting a project during the Tech4Good hackathon. It was a thrilling experience that demonstrated their innovative spirit and problem-solving skills.

Crucial Interviews and Reflection

Two rounds of interviews followed, one technical and one personal, to assess the candidates’ knowledge and alignment with the program’s goals. Each participant also shared their unique experiences, leading to a moment of introspection and growth.

The Result and The Beginning of an Adventure

Based on various evaluations, the top four participants were chosen to represent Nepal in China. The adventure commenced with a journey to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Shanghai, offering a glimpse of China’s rapid technological ascent.

Exploring China’s Tech Ecosystem

seeds for futureSahaj’s trip to China included visits to Huawei’s R&D centers, where he gained insights into groundbreaking innovations in data science, cyber security, electric and autonomous vehicles, smart city technologies, battery technology, cloud computing, and 5G, among other areas.

Seeds Summit and Cultural Exchange

In Shanghai, participants attended the Seeds Summit, which allowed them to showcase Nepal’s rich cultural heritage on an international stage. The event highlighted Nepal’s significance as the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the valor of Bir Gurkhas, the majesty of Mount Everest, and its cultural diversity.

Beyond Technology: Embracing the Culture

Sahaj delved into Chinese culture, savoring traditional dishes and experiencing traditional dances. The journey also included visits to historical landmarks, markets, and the Shanghai Tower.

Bonding Beyond Boundaries

Sahaj cherished the opportunity to bond with fellow participants from various countries, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange and networking in today’s globalized world.
