Shikhar Insurance recently organized a Surveyor Seminar aimed at improving the insurance claims process. The event, titled “Capacity Enhancement for Professional Excellence in Claim Management,” was designed to enhance the role of surveyors in ensuring quick, accurate, and impartial claims settlements.

Focus on Claim Management
The seminar focused on making the claims process more efficient by empowering surveyors to play a more active role. With this in mind, the event sought to provide surveyors with tools and knowledge to simplify and speed up the process. The seminar also emphasized the importance of independence and fairness in claims management.
Presentations and Discussions
The seminar featured five key presentations. Udit Prasad Kafle, General Manager of Shikhar Insurance, discussed the claims related to the 2021 flood. Bikas Maharjan, General Secretary of the Nepal Insurance Surveyors Association, presented on flood-related claims and how surveyors can assist in this area.
Pram Lal Tamang, a surveyor, talked about claims concerning electric vehicles, offering insights into this emerging sector. Sisir Gaire, Executive Director at Himalayan Reinsurance, highlighted environmental risk claims, and Sambraj Lamichhane, Director at the Nepal Insurance Authority, discussed the role of surveyors in ensuring smooth claims settlements.
Wide Participation
The event saw 190 participants, including 110 surveyors, industry experts, and company representatives. It was held at a hotel in Kathmandu and ran from 9:00 AM to evening. The event provided an excellent platform for networking and knowledge exchange among professionals in the insurance industry.
Closing Ceremony and Recognition
The seminar concluded with a grand closing ceremony. Gaurav Agrawal, Chairman of Shikhar Insurance, presided over the event, while Sharad Ojha, Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority, was the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Professor Dr. Fatt Bahadur KC, former Chairman of the Nepal Insurance Authority, and Birendra Baidwar, President of the Nepal Insurance Association.
During the closing ceremony, Shikhar Insurance honored four outstanding surveyors for their exceptional service in claim management. The honorees were Sher Bahadur Buda, Lochan Center Devkota, Rabin Sharma, and Amir Khanal. They were recognized for their dedication and professionalism in handling claims for the fiscal year 2080/081.
