Shishir Smriti Award Presented to Dr. Suman Karmaacharya at National Chhanda Day Event

On the occasion of the 30th National Chhanda Day, the Shishir Ghimire Memorial Foundation organized a multilingual poetry recital, literary felicitation, and an award distribution event.
Shishir Smriti Award Presented
The program was held under the chairmanship of the Foundation’s patron and Chairman of Bardibas Chhanda Chautari, Prem Ghimire ‘Agni Kavach’, with Honorable Sharda Thapa, a Member of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly, as the Chief Guest.
During the event, Prof. Dr. Suman Karmaacharya was felicitated with the Shishir Ghimire Memorial Talent Honor 2081 along with a cash prize of NPR 15,555 in recognition of his contributions to literature and society.
Two differently-abled students—Garima Pariyar (Grade 8, Janata Secondary School, Gauridanda) and Dinesh Mahato (Fourth Year, Janata Multiple Campus)—were each awarded scholarships worth NPR 5,555, sponsored by Mohammad Kamrudin Nadaf, Treasurer of the Janwadi Lekhak Sangh, Sitamarhi (India). Likewise, Mina Devkota provided a scholarship of NPR 2,555 to Sushmita Katwal, a Grade 10 student at Janata Secondary School, Bardibas.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from literary figures of Madhesh Province—including Siraha, Saptari, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat—and also from Koshi Province (Udayapur) and Bagmati Province (Ramechhap and Sindhuli).

The event featured poetry, songs, and ghazals in various languages and rhythms. Participating poets and artists included:
Kumar Kusum, Gopal Yadav, Meghraj Paudel, Lalbabu Pokhrel, Kamrudin Nadaf, Sumitra Acharya, Bel Bahadur Pariyar, Shyam Yadav, Poonam Jha, Baburam Phuyal, Pratima Paudel, Pushpa Gajmer, Bipiraj Dahal, Keshav Phuyal, Jeevan Acharya, Ghanshyam Pant, Dr. Suman Karmaacharya, Lambodar Kafle, Dr. Jo Johnson, Dr. Jenny Herrington, Bodh Kumar Ghimire, and more. All contributors were presented with certificates of appreciation by the late Shishir Ghimire’s mother.
Speakers of the event included Lambodar Kafle, President of the Elderly Literary Society, Madhesh Province, and Bishnu Khadka, President of Bardibas Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Chief Guest Hon. Sharda Thapa expressed that such programs boost dedication toward Nepali literature and wished for the Foundation’s longevity.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Suman Karmaacharya expressed heartfelt gratitude for the honor and praised the Foundation’s initiative in encouraging local creators. He extended special thanks to patron Prem Ghimire and his spouse Devi Ghimire, and wished for the continued success of the Foundation.
In the closing remarks, Chairman Prem Ghimire clarified that the objective of the Foundation is to encourage and honor contributors in the fields of literature and music. He also expressed pride in Dr. Karmaacharya’s consistent contributions to community service, professional excellence, and literary creation.
The event was hosted by Narad Kafle, with the welcome speech delivered by Bhimkumar Raut. The entire program was successfully held at the Vinayak Banquet Hall, Bardibas, in a grand manner.
