In Nepal, although the crime rate is not that high people throughout the country seek help for various causes and so the government has introduced a single emergency number that can be used to contact Ambulances, police, firefighters and another social service.
Just like the 911 in the U.S and 999 in the U.K. Nepal is also going to implement a number that will assist all the social sectors. At the present stage, emergency numbers are separated for the general population, i.e., 100 for police, 101 for fire-brigade, 102 for the ambulance, 104 for children search coordination, 105 for Nepal army and so on. Therefore, NTA (Nepal Telecommunications Authority ) has prepared a plan that will make all the emergency numbers available in one in the upcoming fiscal year.
This plan has also been implemented in India, and they have said that even if the number is barred or suspended, they can still make the outgoing emergency call in 112 via landline or mobile.
As mobile users are exceeding compared to the landline users emergency responses through text is also made available. NTA officially says that the type of facilities will be listed after the completion of the study.

They say that the existing numbers like 101, 102, 103 and so on can also be used as a secondary method of contacting with the emergency line. But then again the senior official of Nepal telecom believes that making the single emergency number accessible can be a challenge for the government as well as the stakeholder agencies handling the emergencies. Not only that the implementation of this project also depends upon the government as the government is responsible for involving various stakeholders to manage this complicated system.
