Softwarica College Hosts ‘TriCode’ Hackathon: AI Agents and Cybersecurity Take Center Stage

Softwarica College of IT and E-Commerce has successfully concluded its highly anticipated ‘TriCode’ Hackathon, a high-intensity innovation event that brought together 96 of the brightest Nepalese students from the fields of Computing, AI, and Ethical Hacking.

Organized by Course Director Siddhartha Nyaupane and the Softwarica IT Club, the hackathon challenged 16 teams to move from concept to code in a grueling 12-hour development sprint, followed by a 4-hour showcase of live demos and project presentations.
Winners and Innovative Breakthroughs
The competition highlighted the rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence and advanced security protocols among the next generation of Nepalese tech leaders.
First Place: Kodr.ai – Taking home the top prize of NPR 50,000, this team developed an innovative solution using AI agents to automate complex software engineering tasks, streamlining the development workflow.
Second Place: AI Security Command Center – This project addressed the growing need for safety in generative AI, creating a dedicated system to protect Large Language Models (LLMs) from prompt injections and data leaks.
Third Place: Netguard – Focused on cybersecurity, this team built a specialized tool to detect and alert users of fake Wi-Fi networks (Evil Twins), a critical solution for public digital safety.
A Platform for Real-World Problem Solving
According to Mr. Siddhartha Neupane, HOD of BSc (Hons) Computer Science with AI, TriCode serves as more than just a contest; it is a platform designed to empower students to solve real-world problems.
“TriCode showcased the incredible creativity and teamwork of our students,” Neupane remarked. “By bringing together those from AI, Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity backgrounds, we are fostering the interdisciplinary collaboration required in the modern tech industry.”
The judging panel featured esteemed industry experts and academics, including Er. Bhimchandra Gautam, Er. Ashik Karmacharya and Dr. Samir Kharel evaluated projects based on technical complexity, social impact, and commercial viability.
