Spirathon is a yearly appathon organized by Spiralogics International. Spiralogics, a software development company, started this program three years ago intending to provide a platform for tech students, tech enthusiasts to showcase their talents while aiming to solve specific problems existing around them. At this program, a group consisting of a maximum of 3 members will need to build a prototype application based on a particular theme.
The group members will need to turn a raw idea they have into a real-life computer application. The group can build their use in any computer language and platform. There are no set barriers to this. Spiralogics will be providing mentorship to each of the groups. Every year, the competition focused around a specific theme, and the company announced that the idea for this year would be in line with the ‘Visit Nepal 2020’ campaign. They unveiled the program as Spirathon 2020 Tech Xperience Nepal in December 2019.
Registration was opened from Dec last year to Jan this year, where several teams submitted their application idea. Out of this, the internal selection committee chose ten best groups to move forward to the next round. The ten groups are currently working with their mentors for the top 5 positions as only five teams will get to pitch their application idea in the finale happening on Feb 15Feb 15, 2020, at Tripureshwor. Professionals from the top IT organizations, governmental and non-government organizations will be judging the event and choosing the winner on a first day.
The program has different sections:
1. Top 5 Project Demo and Presentation.
2. Lightning Travel Talks proven experience sharing by well-known travel enthusiasts
3. Aspiring Next Generation: An extraordinary award to a young aspiring kid currently studying in school with a keen interest in IT
4. Panel Discussion: Future of Tourism, Role of Information Technology
The Spirathon Finale will show the resulting mixture of audiences as well as guests:
1. Entrepreneurs and Start-ups
2. Under-Graduate and Graduate Level Students
3. Journalists
4. Tech Experts
5. Tourism Experts
6. Government Officials
7. Travel Enthusiasts
