Sri Lanka Provides USD 1 Million Humanitarian Aid to Support Flood-Hit Nepalese Communities

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Nepal handed over USD 1 million in humanitarian assistance to support ongoing relief and recovery efforts for Nepalese communities affected by the recent Bhote Koshi River floods and landslides.
Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with the Government and people of Nepal following the Bhote Koshi River Floods on 26 August 2026 that resulted in huge loss of life and widespread damage in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and other districts.
In fulfilment of the commitment made by the Government of Sri Lanka under the direction of His Excellency President Anura Kumara Disanayaka to extend support to Nepal, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Ruwanthi Delpitiya today handed over the financial contribution of USD 1 million to the Government of Nepal.
The financial contribution was formally handed over to Hon. Shisir Khanal, the Foreign Minister of Nepal, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kathmandu.
At the meeting, Ambassador Delpitiya reiterated, on behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, deep sympathy and solidarity with the people of Nepal and extended heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in the disaster.

The financial assistance is intended to support the ongoing humanitarian, relief and recovery efforts of the Government of Nepal and assist communities affected by the floods and landslides.
The handing over of the contribution further reflects the close and longstanding bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Nepal.
Sri Lanka remains committed to standing with Nepal and its people in times of need and to strengthening the enduring relations between the two countries.
The Government of Sri Lanka will continue to remain engaged with the Government of Nepal and explore appropriate avenues to support ongoing relief and recovery efforts.
