Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Amends Foreign Currency Fixed Deposit Interest Rates

Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Limited has announced amendments to its interest rate structure for Foreign Currency (FCY) fixed deposits, effective September 17, 2026.
Standard Chartered Amends Interest Rates
The revised rates apply across major international currencies and other foreign currency holdings up to a one-year tenure.
FCY Fixed Deposit Rate Structure
The updated interest rates per annum are linked to respective central bank reference rates across bidding and other categories.
- USD Fixed Deposits (Up to 1 Year): Interest rates for bidding deposits are benchmarked at respective central bank reference rates minus 2.00 percent to plus 1.00 percent, while other deposits are benchmarked at reference rates minus 2.00 percent to plus 0.50 percent.
- GBP Fixed Deposits (Up to 1 Year): Bidding interest rates range from respective central bank reference rates minus 2.00 percent to plus 1.00 percent, with other deposits set between reference rates minus 2.00 percent to plus 0.50 percent.
- Other Currencies: Fixed deposit rates for other foreign currencies follow the same benchmark range of central bank reference rates minus 2.00 percent to plus 1.00 percent for bidding and minus 2.00 percent to plus 0.50 percent for other categories.
Rate Applicability and Continuity
The published interest rates remain indicative and subject to prevailing institutional guidelines.
- Indicative Nature: All listed FCY fixed deposit rates are indicative figures provided per annum.
- Other Deposit and Lending Rates: All other deposit interest rates and lending rates remain unchanged from those published on September 16, 2026.
