Sumeru Polymers Limited, Nepal’s first company to manufacture PVC, HDPE, and CPVC pipes and fittings, is preparing to issue its Initial Public Offering (IPO).
Sumeru Polymers Nepal IPO
The company aims to raise capital for expansion and improve its market presence. To move forward, it has signed a partnership agreement with Prosperity Ventures.
On behalf of Sumeru Polymers, Managing Director Dibash Ghimire signed the agreement. Prosperity Ventures was represented by its Managing Director, Kamal Prasad Nepal. Both sides agreed to cooperate in securing investments and preparing for the public offering.
From Private to Public Company
Sumeru Polymers started as a private company in 2017 (B.S. 2074). It set up its factory on 11 ropanis of land in Panauti Municipality-9, Kavre. Since then, the company has been producing pipes and fittings for Nepal’s growing infrastructure sector.
This year, the company officially became a public limited company. It currently has a paid-up capital of NPR 100 million. However, the management has set a goal to raise this to NPR 270 million. As part of this plan, the company will issue 30% of its increased capital, worth NPR 81 million, in the form of shares to the general public.
New Investments Coming In
The company also plans to attract new investments totaling NPR 89 million. This move will boost the promoter group’s capital to NPR 189 million. Prosperity Ventures will play a key role in this phase. It will facilitate investments and guide the IPO process.
Sumeru’s leadership brings a mix of experience and commitment. Dibash Ghimire, who has led the company since its founding, continues to oversee the expansion. Kamal Prasad Nepal, his counterpart at Prosperity Ventures, brings over 28 years of experience in the banking and capital market sectors. He previously served in senior roles, including as General Manager at NMB Capital Limited.
Performance and Growth Plans
Over the past three years, Sumeru Polymers has maintained strong business operations. It has averaged annual revenues of NPR 210 million. With the expected capital increase, the company plans to expand production capacity and extend its market across Nepal.
Sumeru currently operates in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Sudurpashchim provinces. The management now targets expansion into all seven provinces. It aims to reach NPR 300 million in annual revenue by the next fiscal year.
Financial Snapshot and IPO Readiness
According to its financial statements for FY 2080/81, the company’s net worth per share is NPR 118. Its earnings per share (EPS) stand at NPR 8.24. These figures indicate strong financial health. If approved under Nepal’s securities laws, the company may issue its IPO at a premium price.
Sumeru’s strategy focuses on combining technical production with market growth. By raising capital through public investment, it hopes to meet rising demand and maintain quality standards.
Strengthening Nepal’s Manufacturing Sector
Sumeru Polymers plays a key role in Nepal’s pipe manufacturing industry. It offers a wide range of products and serves various infrastructure projects. Its move toward becoming a public company reflects a shift among Nepali firms toward capital market integration.
The deal with Prosperity Ventures marks a new chapter. Prosperity will not only provide investment support but also help the company prepare for regulatory and market challenges related to the IPO.
The collaboration reflects confidence in Nepal’s industrial future. With a combination of experience, planning, and innovation, Sumeru Polymers is ready to take its business to the next level.
