Selfie with Daughter

The Selfie with daughter campaign started from village Bibipur in the Jind district of Haryana, India. This campaign has become so publicized in Nepal that within just ten days, One lakh Nepalese people have seen the launching video of Selfie with daughter campaign, while thousands of Nepalese parents have posted selfies with their daughters on www.selfiewithdaughter.org, which will result in three of Nepal’s best selfies being awarded on June 9 on the occasion of Selfie with Daughter Day.

Selfie with daughter’s campaign being popular in India & Nepal

• One lakh people watched the launching video of the Selfie with daughters’ campaign in the last ten days
• Thousands of Nepalese parents uploaded their Selfies with their daughters.
• On June 9, Nepal will provide awards to three best Selfies with daughters.

The Selfie with daughter campaign and foundation’s founder Sunil Jaglan stated that the campaign was launched on May 9 through a virtual program in the neighboring country of Nepal in which President of Nepal Internet Foundation Bikram Shrestha and other cooperative institutions helped to launch the campaign in Nepal. He stated that the campaign, which was started in Haryana, had been praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in many programs, including his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program.

Sunil Jaglan stated that the way the Selfie with daughter campaign was promoted in many states of India, including Haryana, during the last lockdown, similarly this time despite the lockdown in Nepal, the campaign is getting much publicized. This is the first time in Nepal when such a campaign is being conducted to honor the daughters.

He said that in the last ten days, more than one lakh people of Nepal had watched the video of the inauguration ceremony of Selfie with their daughter. Apart from this, 25,000 people have posted their selfies from all around the globe during this lockdown.

 Most of the country’s states are currently undergoing lockdown and curfew in India due to the worldwide pandemic COVID-19. In such a situation, the Selfie with daughter Foundation and Nepal Internet Foundation had appealed to people from all sections of the society to spend time with their daughters during the time of lockdown and send a Selfie with them to the online museum of Selfie with daughter. Those selfies will be honored later on.

Giving information about the campaign, the Founder of Selfie with Daughter Foundation, Sunil Jaglan, said that the program would be organized on the occasion of Selfie with Daughter Day, this time both in India and Nepal on June 9. Through different selection rounds, three selfies captured during the lockdown will be given the Best Selfie Award. The winners will be given a prize of Rs 21000, 11000,5100 respectively, along with the trophy and certificates.

Founder of Nepal Internet Foundation Bikram Shrestha said that the people of Nepal are very fond of this campaign, and this campaign will establish new dimensions of women empowerment in the country.

The campaign of “selfie with daughter” begins with the idea and inspired by the song of Salman Khan “selfie le le re”.

Sunil Jaglan’s daughter was capturing her selfie from her phone while listening to selfie le le re song on the TV. and instantly a thought came to his mind that how Prime Minister of our country to the youngsters are crazy to take selfies. So, he added a selfie with the daughter and it became a “Selfie with daughter campaign.

He continued that on 9th June 2015 he posted a “selfie with daughter” contest where the three best selfies will get the award and this campaign got viral.

He told that on every campaign there’s an inspiration:-

When her daughter born on 24th Jan 2012. A nurse from the hospital gave a very weird look while discharging her daughter. Then he gave INR. 2000 to the nurse for the distribution of sweets.

The nurse refused to take them and asked to give her just INR. 100 as he had a baby girl, not a baby boy. After this incident, he started to motivate society towards the appropriate thinking for the female child as well as facilitate them Being in the position of “Sarpanch” 2012 he started the “Beti bacaho campaign” which later became a yojana for the Indian government as well. But,  this campaign got the focus of the honorable Prime Minister and formal President Pranab Mukherjee.  The Prime minister mentioned this campaign on the radio program ‘man ki bat’ After that this campaign got active participation and spreader all over the world.

“Selfie with daughter” is an online museum http://www.selfiewithdaughter.org where more than lakhs of selfies uploaded by now and 70 countries participated in this campaign.

Recently Nepal started the “Nepal Internet Foundation” and others collaborated to motivate their girls for this campaign to give their active participation which results will be announced on 9th June.

Bikram Shrestha told that Nepal needed this kind of campaign and this campaign will surely be successful over here.

The campaign started on 9th June 2015. According to the OECD-Economic survey of India’s report, it is a very positive, inspiring, and confidence-giving campaign for the girls.

From the Hollywood actors like- Win diesel, Madonna, Victoria, etc. to Bollywood actors like- Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, etc, and sportsmanlike- Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Reina also posted their “Selfie with daughter”.
