The Orientation day of the highly anticipated educational orientation for the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) and Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) programs, hosted by the Texas College of Management and IT, ended on an inspiring note.

Themed “Technology and Sustainable Development: The Role of BIT and BCS,” the event gathered distinguished technology experts who shared key insights on how IT can drive progress and sustainability in Nepal.
Experts Highlight IT’s Transformative Power
In an engaging panel discussion, Ram Krishna Pariyar, Vice President of Subisu Internet, encouraged students to consider the rapid digital advancements that have taken place since 2065 B.S. “The IT sector is the backbone of positive change in Nepal,” Pariyar remarked, emphasizing how technological infrastructure has revolutionized the country.
Chiranjibi Adhikari, General Secretary of CAN Federation, delivered a powerful message, linking the potential of Nepal’s youth in the tech industry to the country’s globally recognized landmarks, like Mount Everest and Lord Buddha. “The opportunity to make Nepal globally recognized in IT is in your hands,” Adhikari stated. He also announced that the CAN Federation is working on launching finishing school programs to address skill gaps between academic learning and industry demands.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Saroj Shakya from Nepal Police shared insights on the increasing integration of IT in governance and law enforcement. He highlighted how young tech innovators can revolutionize public services, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Similarly, SP Deepak Raj Awasthi underscored the growing threat of cybercrime, advising students to remain vigilant and proactive about cybersecurity.
Ganesh Ghimire, a noted fintech expert, explored the complexities of financial technology. “Fintech is an emerging and challenging area, especially due to the complexities of cross-border data transfer,” he pointed out, shedding light on the opportunities and challenges in the fintech space.
Academic Leaders Emphasize the Role of Education
Dr. Suman Thapaliya, Head of the Department at Texas College of Management and IT, emphasized the college’s commitment to academic excellence. “Texas College is a platform for academic excellence in Nepal’s ICT sector,” Dr. Thapaliya said, underlining the college’s role in nurturing future IT leaders. Rohit Pandey, the program coordinator, added, “ICT for youth empowerment comes through a strong academic foundation and professional skills.”
Shaping a Digitally Empowered Nepal
The orientation concluded with a call to action for students to leverage their IT knowledge for sustainable development. The event reinforced the idea that BIT and BCS programs are not just academic pathways but crucial contributors to creating a secure and progressive digital landscape in Nepal.
