In a significant step towards modernizing traffic management, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport has equipped Nepal’s traffic police with 104 smartphones for digital driving license verification.
The handover ceremony, held on Friday, saw Minister Devendra Dahal and Bagmati Province Minister Prem Bhakta Maharjan officially present the devices to Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar.
Minister Dahal emphasized the importance of technology in enhancing traffic management, stating that smartphones would facilitate direct collaboration between the Ministry and Nepal Police. This, in turn, would lead to more efficient traffic operations and safer roads.
IGP Kunwar expressed optimism about these devices’ role in modernizing the police force and improving service delivery. He highlighted the ease and efficiency of smartphones in the verification process.
This initiative marks a crucial step in integrating technology into traffic enforcement, benefiting both the traffic police and the public.
