ICT generally stands for Information and Communication Technology. ICT refers to those technologies which provide access to information through telecommunication mediums. In today’s generation ICT has become a critical subject for the development of the country Nepal is also developing in the ICT sector. There are various ICT leaders in our country, who have given so much contribution to the development of the ICT sector.

Some of the ICT leaders of Nepal that has contributed so much are Er. Binod Dhakal- President of CAN Federation of Nepal, CN Upadhyaya- Chairman, Zoom Event Management, and Biplav Man Singh- former president of CAN, Shovan Sainju- Secretary General ICT Association of Nepal, Pramod Sagar Sigh Pradhan, Sanjoj Maharjan- Manager of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mahabir Pun and so on. Like them, there are many other ICT leaders in Nepal.

For ICT, Technology Leadership Initiative is very much critical. Technology Leadership Initiatives are such kinds of institutions that provide the pieces of training on gaining leadership. Many types of initiatives have been taken for the development of technologies like the Youth Development Center has been established in Rukum by Hon. Mr. Ganesh Man Pun. These types of training make the individual independent and able to do any related work in the technology sector. National ICT Club also organizes such training for the people of Nepal. ICT Community Leaders of Nepal are the leaders of the National ICT Club.

There are many influential leaders in Technology who have done great work in these sectors Satya Nadella- CEO of Microsoft, Jony Jue- Apple Chief Design officer, Min-Liang Tan- Co-founder and CEO of Razer, Travis Kalanick- CEO and co-founder of Uber, Reed Hastings- co-founder and CEO of Netflix, Jack Ma- co-founder and CEO of Alibaba, Paul Eremenko- Director of Engineering at Google, Jeff Bezos- founder and CEO of Amazon, Elon Musk- co-founder, chairman and CEO of Tesla, Lei Jun- co-founder and CEO of Xiaomi. It is sad to know that none of them are from our country Nepal. Till today, Nepal hasn’t done any that great work that can bring our country to this position.

Programs like Educational Leadership and Technology are critical for the students to build up their careers. For doing something, we have to start from the 1st level, so that it will be much easier later. In our country, such type of training is given by the Institute of Information Development, Kathmandu. It is developed with the involvement of Young Entrepreneurs. The organization named Youth Activists Leadership Council also provides training on new technologies for students and adults as well.

Nepal can also become a technology leader by following specific steps such as you need to become a technology, consumer, and user. Generally, you can never lead others in the technology sector until and unless you use the technologies that are invented lately. We also need to learn to talk about the technical language like we need to know about cloud computing, what wiki is, and so on. We need to prepare ourselves for any innovation in the classrooms. We need to learn to clean up all the mess-ups.

The learning may not be compatible. However, you must learn to fix them all. When you know about technologies, you must also invite your friends or mates or anyone whom you know and let them know about what you have learned. You also need to seek money. Leaders are supposed to find the resources to make things happen, which they need either by bargaining or compromising or enlisting others, and so on.

Though the country hasn’t been able to provide all the necessary resources, there are many proven technology leaders in a country like Er. Binod Dhakal, Muni Bahadur Shakya, Manohar Kumar Bhattarai, Sanjib Raj Bhandari, Baburam Aryal, Hempel Shrestha, Chiranjibi Adhikari, Birendra Kumar Mishra, Er. Ganesh Shah, Prof. Dr. Subarna Shakya, Dr. Gajendra Sharma, and many more.
