Tribhuvan University and Digital Empowerment Society Join Forces to Bridge Nepal’s Digital Divide with Flagship IT Training Program

In a significant move towards bridging Nepal’s digital divide and equipping youth with cutting-edge IT skills, Tribhuvan University and Digital Empowerment Society (DES) have signed a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The historic signing ceremony was graced by the presence of the esteemed Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Prof. Dr. Shiva Lal Bhusal, and the Honorable Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, underscoring the national importance of this collaborative initiative.

Flagship IT Training Program

This MoU lays the foundation for a free, intensive four-month course on IT Systems Security and Support Infrastructure for 30 undergraduate students. Utilizing a well-equipped cloud lab, the program will equip participants with hands-on expertise in areas crucial to the evolving IT landscape, including:

  • Modern Information Systems Architecture
  • Networking (Wired and Wireless)
  • Cloud IT Architecture
  • Cyber Security and Compliance
  • IT Support & System Administration

The Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University added  “By equipping youth with in-demand IT skills and globally recognized certifications, we open doors to rewarding careers and contribute to Nepal’s digital transformation.”

Honorable Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the MoU’s alignment with the government’s vision for a digitally inclusive Nepal. “This initiative empowers the future workforce with the tools needed to navigate the digital world and drive innovation across diverse sectors,” stated the Minister.

With scholarship opportunities for deserving students and a dedicated advisory committee overseeing the program, the MoU ensures both quality and equitable access.
