WhatsApp has been developing a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.22.6.5 to improve the user experience.

Following the introduction of a new search tool and message replies, WhatsApp has been discovered to test a feature that would allow users to establish links to join calls on the messaging service.

Previously, WhatsApp enabled users to join a call even if it had already begun. It will now be possible for the host to create a link for WhatsApp calls and invite additional contacts.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon make it easy to join calls by using call links. The call host will be able to build and distribute links inside their contact list to anybody. The link can be sent to folks who are not on your contact list. It is vital to note that to make a WhatsApp call using the link, a user must first register an account on WhatsApp if he does not already have one. This is because WhatsApp calls are protected by end-to-end encryption.

The functionality would differ differently from the one now accessible on Messenger Rooms. The Messenger Room may be joined by anybody, even non-Facebook users, however, the WhatsApp call can only be joined by people who have WhatsApp accounts. “Because this function is in development, you cannot build call linkages right now,” the article said. “However, WhatsApp is working on providing this feature in a future version.”

How to Create a Direct Link for Your WhatsApp Group?

Earlier, you can invite participants to a WhatsApp group only if you are the admin of the group. When you create an invitation link, you can share this link with anyone, and whoever clicks on that link will be able to join the WhatsApp group if they have a WhatsApp account.

The exact user interface may differ slightly depending on whether you’re using the iOS or Android version of the app. However, the process is mostly the same.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to create a public link that people can use to join your WhatsApp group:

  1. WhatsApp FeaturesOpen WhatsApp and select the New chat icon.
  2. From the menu, select New group.
  3. Once the group chat is open, click on the group name and scroll down.
  4. Select Invite to Group Via Link from the participant’s section.

You can share the link, copy the link or use the QR Code to invite people to your group.

With the new feature, users will see a new “tap to join” option in their call log on WhatsApp, that will allow them to join an ongoing group call even if it was missed originally.

Those who want to use the new feature, can simply go into their Call log on WhatsApp, then tap the call they’d like to join.

This will open the call info screen. From there, users can tap “Join” to enter the missed group call. This will, of course, work on group calls that are already ongoing.
