Speaking at a meeting with NRN representatives at SEBON’s office, Dr. Bhatta noted that the government has included budget provisions to amend relevant investment laws.
SEBON has integrated this initiative into its FY 2083/84 policy framework, initiating formal discussions to accelerate secondary market entry for overseas Nepalis.
Dr. Bhatta emphasized that SEBON is prepared to facilitate avenues that channel global NRN capital, skills, and technical expertise directly into Nepal’s economic development.
NRN Investment Initiatives And Infrastructure Funding Plans
NRN representatives welcomed the government’s and SEBON’s regulatory steps toward creating an investment-friendly market environment.
The delegation shared strategic plans for a joint investment company backed by both the Government of Nepal and the global NRN community.
Key financial mechanisms proposed by the NRN delegation include:
- Targeted Initial Public Offerings: Issuing dedicated IPOs to NRNs and overseas workers to raise equity capital for physical infrastructure projects.
- Bonds and Debentures: Issuing long-term debt instruments and project-specific debentures to secure additional infrastructure financing.
- Regulatory Facilitation Request: Requesting SEBON’s support in enacting enabling legal frameworks to streamline these upcoming offerings.
The meeting concluded with senior SEBON officials and NRN representatives agreeing to collaborate on drafting clear market entry guidelines.
