Nepali cinema is gearing up for the theatrical release of the much-anticipated sequel, ‘Jhingedau 2’. Following the massive success of the first installment, excitement among the film’s cast, crew, and audiences is at an all-time high.

Popular actress Aanchal Sharma, who reprises her role in the sequel, recently shared her thoughts in a special interview with Nepal News Bank. She promises fans that Jhingedau 2 is richer, more entertaining, and carries an even deeper social message than its predecessor.

The Pressure of Expectations and “Double” Entertainment

Naturally, stepping into a sequel that followed a beloved hit came with considerable pressure. Aanchal admits that the team initially worried about whether they could live up to the high expectations set by the first movie. However, as filming progressed, that anxiety turned into immense confidence.

“Compared to the first part, everything is elevated. I feel the entertainment is double, the fun is double, and the message is also double,” Aanchal shares.

From Unsure Beginning to a Career Milestone

For Aanchal, the original Jhingedau was never just another project—it was a crucial turning point in her acting career. Initially, she was unfamiliar with director Gyanendra Deuja’s cinematic background.  When she first read the script, she couldn’t understand why she was cast in such a radically different role compared to her previous glamorous or soft-spoken characters.

“I literally thought, ‘Why did you choose me for this? It doesn’t make any sense at all.’ Honestly, I agreed to do it just for the sake of doing it,” she recalls with a laugh.

However, after witnessing Director Deuja’s dedication and researching his past work, she committed herself to learning from the experience. To her surprise, that unexpected project turned out to be one of the most memorable and defining works of her career.

Six Years Later: Evolving with the Character

A gap of roughly six years separates the first film from the second. For Aanchal, this time lapse naturally brought personal maturity, which translated seamlessly into her character arc.

“Coming back to part two after six years, the character has definitely undergone refinement. I, Aanchal Sharma, have also grown older and feel like I have learned a lot more,” she notes.

This added maturity helped her view and portray her character from multiple dimensions with greater justice.

Fun, Fear, and Chemistry with Keki Adhikari

One of the major highlights of Jhingedau 2 is expected to be the intense on-screen rivalry and catfights between Aanchal Sharma and Keki Adhikari. Behind those fierce scenes, however, lies a strong bond of friendship and mutual trust.

• “Sister, I’m going to pull your hair, so just pretend to pull mine back,” Aanchal would tell Keki, establishing a fun coordination that made filming easier.

• Despite their off-screen friendship, executing those scenes was far from easy. Aanchal admits to being terrified while shooting high up on tree branches, fearing potential accidents.

• Physical toll—such as bruises from scuffles and body aches—was part of the job, but looking back, she finds all those memories profoundly rewarding.

More Than Just a Family Feud

Addressing whether family disputes and mother-in-law/daughter-in-law conflicts are still relevant in modern society, Aanchal believes that while the style of conflict may have evolved, emotional turbulence remains a reality in many households.

She emphasizes that Jhingedau 2 is not designed merely to provoke arguments, but to offer a mirror to society. It encourages audiences to introspect on how families should function and reminds viewers that women should not be confined to traditional, helpless stereotypes.
