Rastriya Banijya Bank and Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund Sign Agricultural Credit Guarantee Agreement

Rastriya Banijya Bank Limited and the Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund have signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the implementation of the Borrower-Wise Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme to support agricultural financing and regional economic resilience.

Official Signatories: The agreement was officially signed by Devendra Raman Khanal, Chief Executive Officer of Rastriya Banijya Bank, and Dila Ram Giri, Chief Executive Officer of the Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund, at the DCGF office in Tangal, Kathmandu.
Executive Presence: Senior representatives from both institutions attended the signing ceremony, including Fund Manager Vikrant Acharya and Rastriya Banijya Bank Head of Agriculture and Social Banking Department Bishwo Prakash Gyawali.
Coverage Area and Financial Framework
Target Municipalities: The guarantee scheme will be implemented across nine local levels, including Panchkhal Municipality in Kavrepalanchok; Chandannath Municipality, Patarasi Rural Municipality, and Tatopani Rural Municipality in Jumla; Birendranagar Municipality in Surkhet; Budhiganga Municipality, Budhinanda Municipality, and Triveni Municipality in Bajura; and Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City in Kailali.
Lending Structure: The scheme envisions an aggregate credit investment of up to 160 million rupees over two years, with up to 80 million rupees allocated across the participating local levels. Individual loan limits range from 250,000 rupees to 30 million rupees per borrower, featuring a maximum tenure of seven years.
Fund Capitalization: A dedicated credit guarantee fund of 300 million rupees will back the loans. Funding contributions consist of 105 million rupees from the Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund, 45 million rupees collectively from the nine local levels at 5 million rupees each, and 150 million rupees contributed through the United Nations Capital Development Fund via the United Nations Joint Fund for the Sustainable Development Goals.
