Nepal’s Premier National-Level Hackathon
Now, in its second edition, Codefest 2023 is set to be Nepal’s most significant national-level hackathon, bringing together IT students, industry professionals, and tech enthusiasts.
About Codefest 2023
Codefest 2023 is a remarkable hackathon program that challenges students to leverage technology to solve real-world problems. This year, it kicks off on September 21, 2023, at the Provincial Level and concludes on September 28, 2023. Following this, there’s a brief hiatus before the grand finale, slated for October 6-8, 2023. The event unfolds in two phases:
1. Provincial Level Competition
At the provincial level, teams can represent their colleges or register as independent teams. Each team can comprise 2 to 4 members and will compete against teams from their respective provinces.
2. National Level Grand Finale
Winners from each province, spanning all seven provinces, will converge in the capital city, Kathmandu, to vie for the ultimate title.
The Theme: United for Sustainable Development
Codefest 2023 is centered around the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants are encouraged to align their projects with seven out of the 17 SDGs, including:
Good Health and Well-being:
Develop solutions related to mental or physical health, fitness, medical management systems, and healthy food.
Quality Education:
Create online learning platforms, digital libraries, smart classrooms, and tools for students.
Gender Equality:
Innovate platforms that empower women and address gender-related challenges.
Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: Foster startups, including ride-sharing apps, digital wallets, e-commerce platforms, employee management systems, and emergency response systems.
Smart Cities:
Tackle urban challenges with solutions such as pollution monitoring, traffic management, household management systems, online transportation, and tourism.
Climate Action:
Contribute to environmental sustainability through recycling, eco-friendly ideas, pollution tracking, climate awareness, and reducing plastic usage.
Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions: Address issues like decentralized banking, anti-corruption measures, blockchain-based governance, and crime reporting apps.

Event Details and Registration
The CodeFest Hackathon is gearing up, with registrations already underway. Teams of 2 to 4 students can participate for a nominal fee of NPR 2000 per team. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, the organizers will take care of your accommodation and meals during the hackathon.
The provincial competition is scheduled from September 18 to 25, with the grand finale taking place in Kathmandu on October 6, 7, and 8.
