Commercial banks operating in Nepal have officially published their updated interest rates applicable for the month of Ashoj 2083.

According to the published notices, a vast majority of the commercial banks have opted to keep their interest rates stable and unchanged compared to Bhadra, while two specific institutions—Standard Chartered Bank Nepal and Kumari Bank Limited—have revised their maximum individual fixed deposit rates downward.
Overview of Interest Rate Adjustments
The overall interest rate environment across Nepali commercial banks shows stability, with only a few banks opting for minor rate cuts on their individual fixed deposit offerings for Ashoj.
- Interest Rate Cutters: Standard Chartered Bank Nepal reduced its maximum individual fixed deposit rate from 3.80 percent in Bhadra to 3.75 percent for Ashoj. Kumari Bank Limited lowered its maximum rate from 3.46 percent in Bhadra to 3.43 percent for Ashoj.
- Institutions Maintaining Stable Rates: Seventeen commercial banks, including Citizens Bank, Global IME Bank, Machhapuchhre Bank, Nabil Bank, Nepal Bank, NIC Asia Bank, NMB Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Nepal SBI Bank, Siddhartha Bank, Prabhu Bank, Himalayan Bank, Sanima Bank, Everest Bank, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, and Nepal Investment Mega Bank, maintained their Bhadra rates.
Maximum Individual Fixed Deposit Rates for Ashoj
Banks have published varying maximum individual fixed deposit rates for the upcoming month, ranging from 3.43 percent to 4.55 percent across different institutions.
- Highest Rates Offered: Prabhu Bank set the highest individual fixed deposit rate at 4.55 percent, followed by Machhapuchhre Bank, NMB Bank, Sanima Bank, and Nepal Investment Mega Bank, which all offered 4.50 percent.
- Moderate to Standard Rates: Nabil Bank set its rate at 4.25 percent, Nepal Bank at 4.15 percent, and Nepal SBI Bank at 4.10 percent. Global IME Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Himalayan Bank, and Laxmi Sunrise Bank all fixed their maximum rates at 4.00 percent.
- Lower Threshold Rates: Citizens Bank set its maximum rate at 3.85 percent, Siddhartha Bank at 3.76 percent, Standard Chartered Bank at 3.75 percent, Everest Bank at 3.50 percent, and Kumari Bank at 3.43 percent.
