Commercial banks currently operating in Nepal have published their new deposit interest rates for the month of Bhadra 2083.

The latest published financial data shows that average maximum deposit interest rates have declined further across the banking sector.
Average Deposit Interest Rates Decline Further
The average maximum interest rates on deposits experienced a downward shift entering Bhadra 2083. Both individual and institutional deposit rates saw minor reductions compared to the previous month of Shrawan.
For individual deposits, the average maximum interest rate declined by 0.0315 percentage points. The average rate dropped from 4.1675 percent in Shrawan to 4.136 percent in Bhadra.
Similarly, the average interest rate for institutional deposits fell by 0.035 percentage points. The institutional deposit rate decreased from 3.116 percent to 3.081 percent.
Overview of Banks That Reduced Deposit Rates
A total of five commercial banks reduced their deposit interest rates for Bhadra 2083.
Siddhartha Bank recorded the largest reduction among all commercial banks. It cut its individual deposit rate by 0.29 percentage points to 3.76 percent, while its institutional rate was reduced by 0.20 percentage points to 3.05 percent.
Nepal Bank lowered its individual deposit rate by 0.10 percentage points to 4.15 percent. It also reduced its institutional rate by 0.50 percentage points to 3.50 percent.
Citizens Bank International reduced its individual deposit rate from 3.95 percent to 3.85 percent, representing a 0.10 percentage point cut. Its institutional deposit rate remained unchanged at 3.00 percent.
Kumari Bank trimmed its individual deposit rate by 0.09 percentage points from 3.85 percent to 3.76 percent. Its institutional deposit rate was kept steady at 3.01 percent.
Standard Chartered Bank reduced its individual rate by 0.05 percentage points from 3.85 percent to 3.80 percent, while holding its institutional deposit rate unchanged at 2.75 percent.
Highest Deposit Rates Offered in the Market
Nabil Bank and Prabhu Bank currently offer the highest individual deposit interest rates among commercial banks for the month of Bhadra 2083. Both institutions offer a maximum individual rate of 4.55 percent.
Nepal Investment Mega Bank, NMB Bank, Sanima Bank, and Machhapuchchhre Bank follow closely, offering 4.50 percent on individual deposits.
Most Banks Keep Interest Rates Unchanged
Out of the total commercial banks operating in Nepal, 15 banks chose to keep their interest rates unchanged for Bhadra 2083. Meanwhile, five banks reduced their rates, and no commercial bank increased deposit interest rates during this period.
Banks maintaining their rates include Nabil Bank, Prabhu Bank, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, NMB Bank, Sanima Bank, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Agriculture Development Bank, Nepal SBI Bank, Everest Bank, Himalayan Bank, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Prime Commercial Bank, and Global IME Bank.

The continued reduction in deposit interest rates reflects ongoing liquidity accumulation within the banking system alongside sluggish demand for loan expansion.
To manage funds effectively and lower overall deposit costs, commercial banks have maintained a strategy of reducing or keeping deposit rates low across the market.
