Daraz Nepal 4.5 Million Relief Supplies
Daraz Nepal is extending relief support to communities affected by the devastating floods in Nepal, reaffirming its commitment to standing alongside communities and supporting national disaster-response efforts.
As part of the relief initiative, Daraz Nepal is providing USD 30,000 (approximately 4.5 million Rupees) worth of relief materials alongside additional support, targeting around 600 flood-affected families. Daraz Nepal is working closely with the Government of Nepal to identify the supplies most urgently required for flood-affected communities and is supporting the procurement of these materials.
The current relief package includes non-perishable food essentials such as rice, pulses, dry chickpeas, salt, soy chunks, cooking oil, tea, and biscuits. The materials have been handed over directly to the Government of Nepal for distribution to affected families, helping ensure that the support is aligned with identified needs and reaches communities where assistance is most urgently required.
As the immediate relief response progresses, the need for cooking and serving utensils has also been identified. Daraz Nepal is currently looking into procuring these supplies as part of the next stage of its relief support, in coordination with the Government of Nepal and based on the evolving requirements on the ground.
The devastating floods have affected communities across several parts of Nepal, disrupting lives, livelihoods, transportation, and access to essential services. The situation has also placed significant pressure on emergency responders, security personnel, volunteers, and other frontline workers working to rescue and support affected communities.
Daraz Nepal recognizes the important role of collective action during times of crisis and believes the private sector can contribute meaningfully by working alongside the government and communities and mobilising its resources and capabilities where they are needed most.
At the same time, the floods have presented significant challenges to logistics and deliveries, particularly in areas where roads and transportation infrastructure have been disrupted. Daraz Nepal’s teams are closely monitoring conditions across its logistics network and continuously assessing routes and operations, with the safety of customers, sellers, delivery personnel and partners remaining the company’s priority. Where conditions permit, Daraz Nepal is working with its logistics partners and relevant stakeholders to maintain and restore services where it is safe and operationally feasible, while recognizing that temporary delays or disruptions may occur in affected areas.
Daraz Nepal deeply appreciates the courage and dedication of Nepal’s emergency responders, security personnel, volunteers and other frontline workers who are working under extremely difficult circumstances to protect and assist affected communities.
The company also remains committed to supporting the country beyond the immediate relief phase. Once the urgent rescue and relief needs have been addressed, Daraz Nepal will continue engaging with the Government of Nepal to identify where its resources and capabilities can meaningfully support the rebuilding and recovery process.
“When communities are facing a crisis of this scale, what matters most is responding quickly and meaningfully to the needs on the ground. We are working closely with the Government of Nepal to provide essential relief to affected families and support the broader response. Our responsibility does not end with the immediate emergency, and we will continue to stand alongside communities as they recover and rebuild,” said Ben Yi, Managing Director of Daraz Nepal.
